Melissa Elkins started
singing as a small child, her mom recalls her singing
when was still in a high chair. Music has always been
her passion and it's what she's dreamed about doing her
whole life. She started out her musical journey in
school singing in choir and music programs. She had her
first solo performance at the age of 13 in a local
contest and from then on she's been addicted to the
stage. Over the last 10 years she's sung at several
events from weddings to hockey games to festivals and
contests. She auditioned for American Idol in 2002 and
competed on Best New Talent contest in Los Angeles,
Calif. in 2003. In 2005 she received 1st place in
Knoxville Star contest in Bridgeman, Mi. and was sent to
Knoxville, TN, to record an album of cover songs. In
2005 Melissa was discovered by Cheryl Borowski from Star
makers Unlimited and she took Melissa under her wing and
introduced her to Gary Sadker from Red Ridge
Entertainment in Nashville, TN. In 2006 Gary Sadker
produced Melissa's debut album "Dusty Road". She
recorded in May of 2006 at Bayou Recording with some of
the most awesome musicians she had ever heard. Some of
the musicians that played on the album have played for
some of the top artists including George Strait, Trusha
Yearwood, and Jessical Andrews. The album has 10 tracks
including 2 originals written by Melissa Elkins, "All I
Do Is Cry:, and "Floatin' On Cloud 9". Since recording
"Dusty Road" Some of Melissa's music has been aired on
97.5 WYTZ out of Benton Harbor, Mi. as well as a radio
program in Australia and The Netherlands. She's
continued to perform for festivals as well as local
contests. In 2008 Melissa made the move to Nashville, TN
where she now resides.
